Auto insurance pricing: It’s time to adopt Travelocity, Zillow models

Currently, there is no comprehensive, comparative pricing transparency for Automobile insurance in the United States. This is a daunting challenge brought about by a number of factors. While none of them are insurmountable, many of them will change slowly over time.
These factors certainly include a reticence among some of the insurers in the industry to enable such an environment. Admittedly, some of the insurers’ concerns are valid, both for the quality of the consumer experience when selecting insurance, as well as for the health of their businesses and the industry at large.

GST hike could slash the cost of car home, and contents insurance in tax deal with states

THE cost of home, car and contents insurance could be slashed by up to 10 per cent under planned GST reforms.
But it is unlikely homebuyers will get any respite from stamp duty on property purchases with state governments still addicted to the volatile revenues the tax provides.
Treasurer Scott Morrison has warned the states any debate on increasing the rate or broadening the base of the GST will need to include the states agreeing to abolish or reform “nuisance taxes” regarded as inefficient.
The stamp duty on insurance, which combined with the GST can account for 20 per cent or more of the cost of insurance, is regarded as one of those state taxes to be targeted under GST reforms.

HostGator is now part of Endurance International Group (EIG)

HostGator is now part of Endurance International Group (EIG)
Although in the past the CEO and founder, Brent Oxley, HostGator had said that was not for sale, this time the rumors of purchase by the EIG found groundless. With the purchase (still in process) HostGator confirmed in recent days, Endurance International Group is placed at the head of the big hosting providers in the world. With the public exposure of his revealing letter (TXT file), in the words of Oxley own the group as a whole would now bigger than Go Daddy, another giant of the sector. At least in terms of hosting, for as soon as Go Daddy domains is still moving around 50% market share, no competitor on the near horizon that can stand up.

This acquisition is the largest conducted so far by EIG, both in terms of value and volume terms. And a quick look at their numbers, though outdated, tell us why:
12,000 servers
At least 400,000 customers in 200 countries
8,000,000 million hosted domains
1% of global Internet traffic, according to its own data
